I have a lot of artwork and I realised that, I have never ever done a blog post about any of my work.
Therefore, I am going to remedy that situation from today, starting with 'SMILING EYES.'
Welcome to a future filled with the stories about my art pieces.
'SMILING EYES' #byme
I have been blessed with a trustworthy critic since I started 'my creative journey' and her critique has been invaluable.
Shout out to my daughter. 🥰 Thank you very much. ❤️
The reason why I mention my 'invaluable critic' is because I sought her permission to disclose our 'closed door' discussions. She gave me her permission, so this is the story (abbreviated version).🙂
'CHANGE (C)' was my first artwork in the set. Then I did 'CONSTANT CHANGE (C)' and after that 'REVOLVING CONSTANT CHANGE (C).'
Whiles working on the 3rd artwork, I realised I could tweak a portion of it and design a face. So that is exactly what I did. 🙂
Then I showed it to my critic. I show her everything and discuss it with her. 🙂
Originally, I called this artwork 'Smiling.' So that is the name I told her.
Her response which followed was priceless.
She said, 'A box cannot smile.' 😂
(I have to admit that sometimes my abstract artwork is 'very abstract.' 😂)
I looked at my artwork again so that I could appreciate what she was saying. 🙂
Then I said, 'At least the eyes smiling, so I will call it 'Smiling Eyes.' 🙂
She agreed that it was a more apt title. Then, we continued our discussions about the type of smile etc.
When I mentioned the fact that the eyes were smiling, it reminded me of a prior occasion when my friend (😭) had told me that my eyes were not smiling.
I remember that day as if it were yesterday. I was having an 'off day' and I was out in the park. The sun rays were streaming in between the branches of a tree, so I took a selfie with the sun rays reflecting on my face. I was smiling in the picture. 🙂
Everyone I sent it to said it was a lovely picture except one friend who was silent. The next thing that happened, was a phone call from her asking what was wrong because she said, my eyes weren't smiling in the selfie.
She definitely knew me much more than I even realised. The eyes are indeed the window to the soul and she was able to read my true emotions through the look in my eyes.
Therefore, 'Smiling Eyes' is dedicated to my friend, Joyce and I'm saying that my eyes are smiling. 🥰
The digital art, design and graphics were done #byme
